Retail employers are on the lookout to hire hundreds of thousands of workers this year. And while the number this year is slightly smaller than last years 700,000 retail jobs (which were added in the last three months of the year), ''It’s really still a job seeker’s market for retail,'' said CEO of Challenger, Gray & Christmas John Challenger.
However, retail isn't the only area where workers are needed. Other sectors include catering, engineering and law firms, and UPS. Be sure to research your job of interest; after all, "Retailers want to hire people who know their merchandise and are enthusiastic about it," says an article on Yahoo.com.
Other tips for acquiring a holiday job include applying early (as early as October) and searching online, which not only allows you to view possible jobs, but also to submit a resume. And one final tip — because holiday jobs have the potential to turn into long-term work, consider carefully where you apply this season (if, that is, you're looking for a change).
