New Slump in the Market
Until recently, the job market was weak in areas related to housing, construction, and manufacturing. While these areas continue to lose jobs, another sector has joined them — the service sector. Why? ''[W]ith businesses feeling and acting less confident about economic and financial conditions,'' says an article from BusinessWeek.com, ''a broader slowdown in overall hiring is likely.''
Not only will this slowdown affect workers, it could also affect consumers, lower increases in wages, and "provide less financial fuel to consumers to keep the economy cruising along."
Expected payroll growth in November looks to be 87,000, about half of the payroll growth in October.
