Chrysler Cuts Jobs Due to Auto Slowdowns
With a slowdown in car sales, Chrysler LLC will lay off hundreds of workers at their Toledo Machining Plant in Perrysburg Township, Ohio. An exact number of job cuts has not yet been announced.
According to Lee Bainter, the president of the United Auto Workers, a union that represents 1,500 of the plant's workers, "At the plant level, we're working to minimize it. Obviously, we supply to most of the plants in the corporation, so it follows that when they have [slowdowns], we would too."
The plant, which makes torque converters and steering columns, has supplied parts for Chrysler since 1966.
