After closing stores in Hollywood, California, and Queens, New York, Sears is cutting back on its workforce. Along with the 125 workers who lost their jobs in Hollywood and fewer than 50 in Queens, Sears plans on letting go of 200 employees in support-function jobs. This equals 4% of its headquarters staff in Illinois.

"Sears Holdings' results have not been satisfactory, and because of that, as part of a continuing process, we are assessing our business priorities, cost structures, and organization, and when and where necessary we will be making adjustments," said spokesman Christian Brathwaite.

Those who lost their jobs after the stores closed are expected to be hired at other Sears stores. However, those who will suffer from the job cuts will be offered severance packages and outplacement services.
