Google Will Cut Jobs at DoubleClick
Google plans on cutting 300 jobs at its recently acquired advertising technology company, DoubleClick. While these cuts will affect the company's nationwide workforce of 1,200, Google chief executive Eric E. Schmidt said DoubleClick's overseas workforce may also be affected at a later time.
A statement put out by Google explains, "Since our acquisition of DoubleClick closed on March 11, we have been working to match and align DoubleClick employees in the U.S. with our organizational plan for the business. As with many mergers, this review has resulted in a reduction in headcount at the acquired company."
During the layoffs at DoubleClick, some workers were offered, according to Google, "transitional roles." Once the companies merge, however, the transitional roles will cease.
