EmploymentCrossing Finds More Jobs in the States Reporting Higher Unemployment Rates
Pasadena, CA — Last week, various state labor departments including those of Washington, Oregon, Michigan, and New Jersey announced higher unemployment figures for the month of November. EmploymentCrossing, on the other hand, listed a host of job openings from these states, scouring through every possible resource.
''It is our sole mission to find every job from every region, and we go to great lengths to achieve it,'' says Andrew Harrison Barnes, founder and CEO of EmploymentCrossing.
Harrison Barnes founded EmploymentCrossing in 2007 with an aim to consolidate every job from all possible resources — including employer websites, online job boards, newspapers, classifieds, magazines, and other publications. ''I realized the urgent need for niche job boards in the downsizing job market, and conceptualized this revolutionary job-search tool that covers each and every job opening on this planet,'' adds Barnes.
In the month of November, the state of Washington shed 11,700 jobs, and the unemployment rate touched 6.4%, the highest in four years. New Jersey's unemployment rate rose to 6.1% in November — the highest since 1996. Oregon reported a 50% increase in its unemployment rate over last six months, with the November figure touching 8.1%. The worst affected has been the state of Michigan, whose unemployment rate rose to 9.6% in November, the highest since 1992.
Evaluating the current economic scenario, Harrison Barnes opines that the nation is headed for an even tougher period ahead. ''With more and more states revealing higher unemployment figures, job seekers need to do a lot more than simply relying on those job boards which limit its listing to only those jobs for which employers pay to post,'' adds Barnes.
''EmploymentCrossing is basically a research organization. Our USP is that we do not charge employers to post jobs on our site, instead we go a step ahead and research all job sources so that not a single job opening gets missed out,'' says Harrison Barnes.
