Add lots of Illustrations! Highly Important!
Give illustrations for each skill which claim possession of because it's best if one has an actual situation to convince the interviewer. For instance, if you tell the interviewer that you work well with short deadlines and can make quick on the spot decisions, you need to give a situation where you have done that and achieved the needed outcome.
Take the reign in your hands
Do not ever get deceived by the interviewer's friendly banter which actually gauges you or their trick questions. It's best to be politically correct. Politicians always answer the questions posed to them in a subtle way yet manage to put across all the information. One can observe this during a debate or press conference.
For instance, if asked about whether you're more comfortable working alone or in a group, the most diplomatic answer is to say that you don't mind either and can work fairly well in both because at some point during the job, one needs to work alone as well as in a group.
The replies one gives to the questions posed are supposed to give the interviewer reasons to take you in and not the opposite. Therefore, always think and reply. Well thought answers score more any day than haphazard, hasty answers which don't have substantial content.
Make it Short and Sweet
The answers you put forward have to have to be clear and concise. Even if you're being diplomatic, make sure that you don't lie about anything. Another thing to keep in mind is to keep negation and negative tone in the answers to the bare minimum. When one keep going on and on with an answer, the answers impress the interviewer less and can also make them suspect you of making them up.
Start the Discussion
Once you finish answering, ask whether the answer you gave was satisfactory and catered to the expectations of the interviewer. The benefit of asking this is that it lets you know whether you were understood perfectly or not; lets you know whether your answer had the details he/she was seeking and whether or not you need to add something to your answer.
In the end practice makes one perfect.
