Assistant Director, Career Services

Duties: Assisting the Assistant Dean in all aspects of departmental operations and administration and oversees and evaluates the daily operations of major functional programs including counseling services, seminar programming, data collection and reporting, and employer recruitment including oncampus interviews, resume collects, job bank and job fairs. Serves on management team with Assistant Dean. Participates in developing a departmental strategic plan based on unit goals. Plans budgets for Career Services under the supervision of the Assistant Dean and assists Assistant Dean in planning budgeting for the department. Participates in planning, directing, coordinating and evaluating of major functional programs to meet department goals and objectives. Supervises and evaluates major functional programs including counseling services, seminar programming, data collection and reporting, and employer recruitment including oncampus interviews, resume collects, job bank and job fairs. Monitors compliance with all unit, department, university and government standards, policies and procedures. Develops reports, analyses and surveys as requested by Assistant Dean. Represents the department, division or university on various committees. Provides leadership for department along with and in the absence of Assistant Dean. Handles special projects as assigned by Assistant Dean. Provides supervision and guidance to support staff. Oversees and evaluates counseling services and counsels students and alumni on job search and career development including performing selfassessments. Supervises and assists counselors in collecting and analyzing information provided by students on interests, values, strengths/weaknesses. Confidentially reviews resumes, cover letters, job applications, and conducts mock interviews. Oversees and evaluates employer recruitment efforts of office and professional staff. Primarily responsible for planning, managing, administering, maintaining and updating general and specialized employer databases for employer recruitment mailings. Oversees and evaluates all seminar programming and oncampus and offcampus events. Oversees crossdepartmental functions.
