Duties: Responsible for shared contract signature authority and major institutional committee assignments. Participates in long range special projects. Serves as the Institutional Official for 1/6th of the School of Medicine Departments, involving review and approval for 400 complex grant and contract proposals and award review and contract/sub-award drafting/negotiation for $60M in annual awards per year. Serves as the primary draftor/negotiator for more than 30 non-funding research agreements (Memoranda of Understanding Non-Disclosure, Data Use, Software Licenses, etc.) for the assigned SOM Departments. This is primarily a pre-award position with additional responsibility for post-award sponsor liaison, research administration compliance (e.g., human subjects, animal care and use, conflict of interest, intellectual property, costing, export control, etc.) and coordination with Sponsored Shared Services for award set-up, prior sponsor approvals and account close-out. Participation in the training/guidance of departmental staff and faculty in grantsmanship, IT systems supporting sponsored projects and participation in institutional committees for research compliance and sponsored programs administration. Represents University and School in institutional, national/regional sponsored research administration committees/organizations and serves as a research administration ombudsperson for the faculty and staff in assigned departments. Reports to the Associate Dean, Research Administration.
