Magic Hat Consulting is a specialized consulting firm focusing on Program & Project Management, Requirements Management and Business Process Improvement. We have a proven track record of delivering Project Management consulting services to Fortune 1000 and mid-size companies in the Greater Philadelphia area. As a result, one of our clients has a need for two Business Relationship Program Managers. These positions are direct client full time employee hire roles.
Responsibilities:
Act as the primary liaison between IT and the Business (in a healthcare payer organization) to determine the portfolio planning process (from a program management perspective) in alignment with the business goals of the organization. This is a very “business” focused role as opposed to IT.
Understand the business, assist in the prioritization of projects, ensure that projects align with the technology that best provides maximum return on investment, and direct IT strategy in support of the overall business strategy.
Play a key role in the project initiation process applying risk/value techniques and business analysis expertise to understand project requirements, shape initial project requests, and provide a high-level estimate of project effort and costs used in the cost-benefit analysis.
Work with the IT SME’s to discuss potential solutions that match the business strategy with the technology strategy; work with the IT Project Managers, managers and team leaders to discuss staffing needs, high-level timelines, and the associated costs for the business cases.
Lead from both a business and IT perspective; clearly setting expectations for each major project portfolio milestone and then manage the business and the project teams to those expectations.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 8 to 10 years overall experience as a Relationship / Project Manager, with at east a few years’ experience as a Program Manager.
Must have strong business side experience and experience aligning business needs from a portfolio management perspective.
Healthcare insurance industry experience is required!
Must be tactical in delivering project tasks under tight deadlines, with the ability to keep the big picture in mind at same time from a strategic perspective.
Ability to build and manage a team of people in order to effectively manage a project portfolio and ensure its’ success.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a cross-functional capacity.
Successful track record delivering projects successfully and within budget.
Ability to interact with all levels of personnel from technical to high level executive management, and influence key stakeholders.
Strong leadership, assertiveness and interpersonal skills.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Self-starter, assertive, enthusiastic and has the political savvy to get things done, yet maintain a likeable presence.
Ability to demonstrate executive level customer focus; a win-win approach to meeting business requirements and resolving conflicts; and a strong sense of urgency.
Must have excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
PMP certification is a preferred.
Bachelor’s degree is required.
