Job Summary:

This role requires an individual with a passion for analyzing data and providing insights for actionable business decisions. The Business Analyst II is responsible for developing detailed requirements, analyzing customer data and identifying new opportunities for operational performance improvement, increased efficiency and workforce productivity for AlinIQ products.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable track record of success delivering new features or products. The candidate should be a critical contributor to defining the informatics products within Abbotts Diagnostics Division. She/he will also be responsible for supporting on-market products post-launch

Primary Job Function:

Responsible for the definition; configuration; and development of core laboratory/hospital software solutions for designs of intermediate and moderate complexity.

Core Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.

Translates requirements into new solutions - Develops use cases; requirements; and specifications for new and existing system design

Build and maintain partner relationship - Evaluates and defines product changes with team to resolve customer issues and provide input on new functionality of moderate complexity projects. Leads technical discussions with TPM. Builds and maintains relationships.

Performs Investigations - Participates in investigations to determine root cause for moderately complex issues that may cross multiple products. Arrives at timely conclusions. Maintain high customer service by assisting support with customer issue resolution and coordinate inclusion of customer issue resolution with product/project patches and releases

Solution configuration and documentation - Performs software installation and configuration; test laboratory workflows; creation and maintenance of business rules; verification of system and instrument interfaces. Generates input to service personnel.

Obtains customer feedback for new and/or improve products - Provides and gathers inputs from internal and external sources and from members of the project’s cross functional team to achieve customer needs.

Anticipates and/or develops /applies risk mitigation - Reviews technical risks and take appropriate action.

Reviews and provides input into risk management documentation including FMEA and risk analyses.

Maintains adherence to quality system - Follows functional area policies and procedures.

Leads and mentors - Trains and mentors associate systems analysts in tools and processes.

Position Accountability / Scope:

Receives general direction. Completes moderately complex assignments.

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Implements activities for project.

May participate in hiring process for technical resources and provides feedback to the hiring manager.

Provides input on project activities and may assign activities to other team members.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science; Information Systems or similar discipline including Biomedical Engineering; Electrical Engineering; or Healthcare Informatics is preferred.

Minimum Experience / Training Required:

Requires strong analytical and communication skills as well as sound judgment and the ability to work effectively with internal team members, software developers, and customer. Very good oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of HIS/LIS/LIMS and laboratory operations is strongly preferred

Education or experience in Medical technology or clinical laboratory science; ASCP; CLS (NCA) is a plus.

Experience with communication protocols (ASTM, HL7, XML) 2 years of related work experience with degree or sufficient transferable experience to demonstrate functional equivalence to a degree.
