The Director, Retention Marketing will lead a cross-departmental team that will collaborate heavily with Product, Creative, Business Intelligence, and Marketing to drive higher conversion, engagement, and retention for all Demand Media products and services. The candidate must possess strong knowledge of email marketing, customer segmentation, and enjoy digging into technical and analytical challenges. Extensive background in retention marketing is needed to succeed in this role, as this person will play a critical part in helping us dramatically grow our business. A positive and collaborative team culture is incredibly important to us. Only candidates who can demonstrate a can-do attitude, a desire to work hard for their team, and an interest in technology, as well as a belief in brand building will be considered. Experience with branding, social engagement, media properties, and Direct Response methodologies are a plus. Responsibilities:
Direct the email programs across all brands, continuously driving improvements by putting in place comprehensive, measurable testing plans and strategies
Lead the process of building out segmentation and lifecycle marketing and provide thought leadership on how best to communicate to our customers
Partner with our internal Business Intelligence team to drive forward reporting, analysis and subsequent strategies for acquisition, retention and win-back
Build out a strong cross platform plan - web and mobile - to help increase overall engagement metrics
Partner with Product and Marketing to put in a place a strong plan for cross-selling & upselling customers across properties
Manage growth and overall health of consumer database
Mentor and manage retention marketing team
Maintain knowledge on the latest email marketing techniques and regulations
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or similar
7 years of email marketing experience
5 years of Direct Response and email experience
Advanced analytical skills and in-depth database segmentation experience
Strong decision making capabilities and problem solving skills
Detail oriented and highly organized
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in an extremely fast paced growth environment
Strong knowledge of email marketing platforms, especially PulsePoint
