Director of Finance - Federal Division','150973','!*!RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL: Takes general direction from Executive Finance Director of NA HVAC, and reporting directly to the Vice President and General Manager Johnson Controls Federal Systems, supervises and directs all planning, forecasting, analysis and accounting required to support the $0.5B Federal Systems N.A. business, including the JCBAS, JCGS, and York Navy Systems business. Working as the financial and strategic business partner to the VP&GM of the Federal business, coordinates/prepares written and graphical financial information to support clear, concise communication to the Building Solutions NA and Corporate executive teams regarding the performance of the business. The role provides direction and coordination to the controllers around all Federal business related issues. Is a contributing member of the management team with an understanding the key Business Unit processes, technologies and strategies. PRINCIPAL DUTIES: 1. Proactively works with the VP & GM Federal Systems, and the functional team to improve actual financial results consistent with operating plan commitments and objectives for each Region. 2. Provide financial support for strategic decisions critical to the NA Federal business including M&A decisions analysis. 3. Develop, implement, and execute new Solutions Contract Pre-Reviews process to reduce/mitigate inherent risks associated with Solutions projects. In addition, develop where necessary, effective control procedures to supplement Corporate and Division procedures. Ensures Region compliance with procedures. 4. Continually performs business evaluations to identify future opportunities for improvement and barriers to achieving strategic and financial objectives. 5. Reviews monthly financial results and business metrics for the Federal Business as a whole and each growth business and region. Identifies opportunities to drive actions that will improve overall financial performance. 6. Increases the financial awareness of non-financial employees through training on financial measurements and interrelationships, asset management techniques, planning, forecasting and control procedures. 7. Identifies best business practices and facilitates the propagation of these practices throughout the business unit as participates in the sharing of financial best business practices across the organization. 8. Directs the financial/business planning and forecasting process for the business unit. Reviews the region plans and forecasts for alignment with business objectives, market opportunities and the ability to execute. Provides recommendations and direction to the Federal VP & GM. 9. Ensures compliance with established administrative processes and procedures through inspection and follow up with the Field and Shared Services. 10. Drive process improvements for the business, under the new organization model, across both actual accounting and financial planning. 11. Conducts other duties as assigned. #external','!*!REQUIREMENTS: 1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting. 2. Minimum of twelve years of broad financial experience in all aspects of business control. 3. Prior experience as a financial controller is highly desirable. 4. Ability to direct and coordinate financial results in a multi-location field operation. 5. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees. 6. Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills with strong problem solving capabilities. 7. Familiarity with IT systems as they relate to financial functions and operational areas. 8. Individual PC skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel. 9. Willingness to travel (10 - 20%). 10. The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)PREFERRED: 1. MBA or CPA. 2. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Hyperion Enterprise Consolidation Software.
