EMC Test Engineer, Platforms
Google's custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this cutting-edge equipment is reliable. In the R&D; lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you're sure it meets Google's standards of quality and reliability.
You will be working closely with the EMC Design Team to produce test plans, configure hardware and software on the test station and create scripts for EMC test automation. The job will involve a degree of troubleshooting and problem solving on systems operating at frequencies from a few kHz to several GHz.

Work independently to set up tests, perform testing on a broad range of products and identify areas of non-compliance.
Set up EMC test stations in accordance with applicable EMC standards, configure test hardware and software for both pre-compliance, compliance testing and coordinate test logistics among various stakeholders.
Remain informed of all changes in various regulatory compliance requirements and proactively inform design teams of any impending requirements.
Configure hardware and software needed on EUT for compliance testing.
Generate test plans, test reports, statements of procedure and other related documentation.
BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience in compliance EMC testing.
3 years of experience on measurement uncertainty, test calibration, equipment requirements, confidence checks, test optimization for dynamic range, troubleshooting in a research and development environment with a demonstrated understanding of product delivery lifecycles.
3 years of experience with the following: worldwide EMC test standards, primarily EN55022, EN55024, FCC Part 15 Subpart B/C, ANSI C63.4 for ITE, EMC test setups beyond just following SOP, EMC test equipment (i.e. spectrum analyzers/test receivers, signal generators, amplifier, antennas) and with Linux or other Unix operating systems.
Scripting and/or programming skills.
Extensive understanding of country specific EMC standard (e.g., BSMI, VCCI, KC, GOST, C-Tick).
Knowledge in lab quality system.
Knowledge in EMC standard for other product category, e.g. automotive.
