Profile

The Technology Group within Dominion Business Solutions is responsible for delivering key products and technologies to the business teams. A key focus for the team is the Dx1 System that currently serves powersports dealers and is being expanded to server other industry verticals. Data is a key component of the Dx1. Dealers need a tremendous amount of data to effectively run their business: major units (vehicles), OEM parts including diagrams, aftermarket parts and accessories including fitment, pricing, inventory levels from suppliers, incentives, financing, and insurance. We are looking for an experienced ETL developer to join our growing team. This is a hands-on senior developer position implementing, maintaining, and operating data parsing and ETL processes as well as developing and maintaining stored procedures and database components for the System of Record (SOR) within the Dx1 architecture. The SOR acts as
the repository for known good data and supplies that data to downstream product components. You will develop scalable and manageable solutions to help solve our immediate challenges and prepare us for the future. If you enjoy developing solutions that process large sets of data files in a variety of data formats with varying business rules based on industry, vendor and inventory type, you are a good fit. You must be strong in SQL and experience developing and performance tuning SSIS packages. Ideal candidate for this position should have extensive experience developing ETL solutions, experience in C# development and working with Team Foundation Server. Experience working with Window Azure cloud platform is a big plus. This position is based in Norfolk, VA.
Responsibilities
Develop solutions that extract data from various inputs and transform into the Dx1
SOR data model.
Identify methods to enhance and cleanse existing data within the SOR to minimize / eliminate downstream data transformation efforts.
Implement solutions that meet both product needs and schedule constraints.
Automate data processing to minimize manual intervention.
Work with members of the data team in the support of the data specification for suppliers.
Work with members of the data team to support standardized data transfer between companies. Examples of this are STAR in the automotive industry and MATES in the marine industry.
Assist sister divisions that are running on legacy platforms to leverage data from the SOR to reduce or eliminate duplicate data entry effort.
Requirements
BS in Computer
Science, Engineering, IT, or related field.
5 years of SQL (T-SQL) experience, preferably in SQL Server 2005 or later.
5 years working on ETL solutions and performance tuning large ETL processes.
5 years working with RDBMS including design, query tuning and index tweaking.
3 years experience developing SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
3 years working in C# .NET development.
Experience with Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server.
Experience using the new features of .Net 3.0, .Net 4.0 and later.
Effectively work with remote teams.
A sharp mind and a desire to get the job done in a fast paced environment.
An understanding of Rapid Application Develo
pment practices such as Agile.
Powersports background with working knowledge of the industry is a big plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
