WHNT, a Tribune Broadcasting station, has an opening for a Graphic Designer/Digital Media Specialist to work in our Huntsville location.
The Graphic Designer/Digital Media Specialist requires a thorough understanding of design principals, color theory and possess an eye for consistency and accuracy. This role will be responsible for enforcing station's visual brand and client campaigns on all platforms. This includes creating, coordinating and maintaining news editorial, promotional and branded social creative. This person will have a willingness to learn new advertising and content platforms, and then incorporate that knowledge in to work.
Design/create graphics based content for daily newscasts, specials, commercial, social and promotional spots
Create and produce animated graphic opens and elements for newscasts, clients and promotions
Write copy, produce and post video and other digital content on WHNT social media accounts and digital platforms
Collaborate with creative team and cross-functionally with the News department supporting ratings growth strategy, increasing traffic and awareness to the station website and social platforms
Track performance of station branding elements
Contribute to special projects such as digital ads, print work, signage, animation and set design as assigned
Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities
Perform other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree preferred in graphic design, digital media or video production; equivalent experience required
Professional experience in social media including Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter and Instagram
Strong design, illustration and typographic skills required
Experience with HTML and Word Press preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, this include writing copy for advertising
Experience with Mac OS, DSLR cameras, Adobe products including; After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator and Photoshop
Knowledge of 3D animation software
Video editing experience preferred
Ability to work in a rapid, fast-paced environment
Must be able to work independently
Must be available to work station promotional events
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays
