Role description:
Java and WebSphere Portal Lead
A qualified candidate should have strong Java and WebSphere Portal experience. The individual must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills and should have experience interacting directly with key client stakeholders. The individual will be responsible for providing delivery of complex WebSphere Portal and J2EE based solutions to our client using industry-leading products and technologies.
Responsibilities:
This developer’s primary work will center on projects and enhancements for a customer-facing web portal application, including business rules and web services using WebSphere Portal, Web services, XML and SQL.
Perform complex web application development following a defined software development life cycle process. Works as a member of a team developing and supporting the application.
Responsible for multiple phases of the software development lifecycle, including technical research, requirements analysis, high level and technical design, development of enhancements, unit testing, and deployment. Expertly utilize IBM WebSphere Portal to develop web portal functionality.
Specific programming tasks include the creation of the detailed design specification, writing code, debugging and testing components, and generation of software builds.
Day to day work may involve working with the development team to define the impact of requirements to the current systems and interface to other systems, documenting technical designs , developing code, assisting with technical issues, assisting with user acceptance testing, providing production support, and other related work as assigned.
Skill set:
Strong knowledge of WebSphere Portal components, services and frameworks, WebSphere Portal configuration, WebSphere JNDI, Developing Portlets using JSR 168/286 Standard, Experience in Portal Themes/Skins And Portal Administration, Inter-portlet communication
Strong knowledge of SOAP-based Web Services. Experience in REST services will be an added advantage
Experience with Rational Application Developer, Spring configuration, SOAP-based Web Services, EJBs, JavaServer Pages Standard Tag library (JSTL), HTML, JQuery
Experience in object-oriented design and related tools (UML, Rational)
Experience with most of the following: Maven/Hudson, WebSphere MQ, TAM, SVN
Familiar with SDLC methodologies, including RUP and Agile
