Linux System Administrator

The Linux System Administrator will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux servers including web servers, mail servers, application servers, and database servers
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Perform software installations and upgrades to Linux systems and maintain them in accordance with established policies, procedures, and service level agreements
* Monitor and tune Linux systems to achieve optimum level of uptime and performance
* Work with product development by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions
* Ensure data recoverability by implementing system and application level backups
* Provide capacity planning for all Linux systems to allow proper expansion and growth
* Automation of administration tasks through use of scripting
* Analyze and troubleshooting system and application performance on Linux based systems
* Support servers in a 24x7 environment
* Plan and schedule server outages to perform hardware and software upgrades within a given window
* Ability to quickly solve technical problems to minimize customer downtime
Qualifications:
* Bachelor*s degree in Computer Science or related field, or international equivalent
* In depth knowledge of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system
* Minimum of 7 years IT experience
* High level of problem solving skills
* Able to multi-task and handle several projects at a given time
* Understanding of internet mail protocols
* Familiar with Veritas, Netbackup or related backup software
* Can install and configure UNIX systems from the ground up
* Ability to utilize scripting to automate administration functions
* Understands network hardware and functionality
* Experience with configuration management tools such as CFEngine and Puppet
Desired:
* Certified RedHat Engineer
* Experience with other UNIX and UNIX-like operating systems, such as Solaris and FreeBSD
* Veritas Netbackup Experience
* Familiar with NetApp, EMC and/or Equallogic storage arrays
* Experience with Amazon EC2
