Summary: The Operations Analysis & Performance (OAP) team at Delta provides database reporting, ad-hoc data, and analytical support across all major operations areas of the company. This position supports the business by developing data-driven solutions aimed at continually improving airline performance and decision making. The role will support the delivery of a real-time operational database, a business view of data for the operation, and an operational event data lake. The Decision Support manager will partner with the data science team and IT to deploy advanced analytics solutions into the operational environment. The leader will also partner cross-divisionally to establish data governance and metadata for OAP and the enterprise. This position will require a strong understanding of how the database reporting environment is structured as well as troubleshooting when automation errors occur.
Manage the database environment and automation process involved in operational business reporting
Partner with Information Technology to optimize and enhance the database environment for optimal efficiency and best practices
Locate and extract data from a variety of sources for use in reporting, analysis, and statistical modeling to drive continuous improvement
Identify and source new data for use in reporting, analysis, and statistical modeling
Establish an operational data lake and a real-time reporting environment for the operations
Lead the adoption of data governance and metadata throughout OAP
Define requirements and develop a business view of data for the Operations divisions
Lead, coach, develop and mentor team members (direct reports) and train others in various skillsets and subjects
Promotes Delta's Rules of the Road and Servant Leadership
Develops strategic and tactical plans that create a safety conscious environment that results in employee safety and well-being
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics, or other quantitative field (Master's degree preferred)
5 years of database or analytical work experience preferred
Advanced level ability to think critically and analytically to find solutions to business problems
Advanced level knowledge of SQL, SAS, SPSS, R, Python, or other statistical programing languages
Advanced level Visual Basic, PHP, Perl, C or other functional programming skills
Advanced level Statistical analysis and modeling including Linear Regression, Segmentation, non-linear predictive (e.g. Logistic) regression and machine learning
Advanced level ability to manage a reporting database environment, troubleshoot, and automate reporting within Teradata and SAS Server
Advanced level ability to manipulate data using programing language and to create complex queries
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple complex requests and projects simultaneously
Must have strong computer programing skills and the ability to create clear, concise, and well formatted PowerPoint presentations
Creative thinking and quick turnaround on requests required
Must be able to interact and collaborate at all levels within Operations Analysis & Performance, OCC, cross-divisional working groups, and outside entities
Must also be able to lead a team to reach divisional and corporate objectives
