Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):
Develops, maintains and extends the databases utilized by the Business Development Group that augment firm-wide data systems in the areas of client and matter descriptions that are utilized throughout the Firm to present our experience to current and potential clients.
Assists colleagues within Business Development in preparing analyses of the Firm’s clients and matters as they are needed in order to prepare business development material used in pitch books, or in lawyer bios, or on the Firm’s external communications and website. As part of this role, writes SQL queries for applications and reports, and prepares presentation-quality reports from spreadsheets and relational databases.
Scrubs and tests data for consistency and accuracy. Makes improvements to the Group’s databases wherever possible.
Ensures improvement of the Group’s database tools and systems by documenting system requirements, business rules and data flows, and either building enhancements directly or working with the Firm’s IT organization to build needed enhancements.
Tests in-house software and documents and resolves end user issues.
Prepares ad hoc data requests.
Job Requirements
Qualifications include: MS Access: experience creating applications, reports, queries and macros; ability to import, export and link data from SQL Server, Excel and XML sources; MS Excel: experience with functions, macros, reports, charts and data validation; SQL: ability to write complex queries with multiple joins; relational Databases: solid understanding of relational structures.Education and/or Experience: BachelorÌs or MasterÌs in Computer Science or Business Information Systems or other college degree with equivalent technical training and/or experience required; two to five years of experience as a Database Programmer Analyst desired; prior experience with CRM a plus.
