Job Description:
Detection and Tracking Specialist (DTS): Manages RADAR parameters, resources and tasking for the specific RADAR system assigned (i.e. VA, TX, or PR). Provides guidance to the tactical watch team regarding the technical performance of ROTHR RADAR Operations. Utilizes beacons for coordinate registration and trouble shooting of system degradations. Correlates external and in-house RADAR contacts. Provides relevant information to the Watch Supervisor for decision-making concerning usage/priority of RADAR resources and track management. Provides technical guidance and training to RADAR Operators. Work typically requires comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex RADAR operation trade-offs and challenges defined in manuals and procedures. Work requires interpretation of the ionosphere and familiarity with the interrelationships of the RADAR’s various responses to parameter adjustments. This requires judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting and using the appropriate PC based tools. Performs all other related duties as assigned and required.
Required Abilities, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Must have at least 3 years ROTHR operations experience.
Must have successfully completed the DTS-JQR qualification process.
Must have worked as a DTS or a DTS Apprentice (DTSA) within the last 2 years.
Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Desired Skills:
Demonstrated supervisory experience. Previous DTS experience.
Clearance Required:
Applicant must be a US Citizen.
Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Successful applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance.
