The Operating Technician performs a wide array of routine/non-routine plant duties including operating and checks of process equipment, monitoring process equipment, conditions and control systems. This includes the ability to work 12 hour, rotating shift schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.
Follow all operating principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned assets
Works with other operating technicians to accomplish daily activities, projects and assigned tasks,e.g. field checks, samples, equipment preparation, minor maintenance, etc
Uses trouble shooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems
Uses process knowledge and skill to make improvements in plant performance and operating discipline
Monitors, collects and inputs plant performance metrics
Participation in all unit programs e.g. EH&S, reliability initiatives, training, etc
Ensure safe return to operation of all equipment post maintenance activities
Coach and train others on plant operations
Chemical manufacturing experience preferred
Operates Windows based PC, including MS Office Suite
Must meet physical requirements of the job which include walking up and down stairs, using ladders, overhead work, lifting up to fifty pounds and operating a forklift
Good verbal/written communication skills
Must be able to pass respirator fit test
Minimum 2 years experience in an industrial manufacturing setting
Minimum High School Education or GED; Associates Degree (chemical process operator) is an asset
