Description:
THE POSITION:
With minimal or no supervision, performs an operational and project support role for Oracle Database Administration. Responsibilities include all aspects of daily management of all Oracle databases, including performance management, creation of new databases, backup and restores of the databases. Also included in responsibilities will be HP UNIX Administration and SQL Server database administration.
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the database monitoring, troubleshooting, support and maintenance tasks.
Responsible for planning, testing, tuning, configuration and setup of Oracle & SQL Server databases.
Responsible for Oracle RAC implementation and maintenance
Perform operating system upgrades, capacity planning, and performance analysis as it relates to day-to-day operations of Database Servers in Physical and Virtual Environment.
Manage, maintain and enhance the database security and access.
Manage database capacity and performance using appropriate reporting & monitoring tools
Develop and maintain technical documentation for all areas of responsibility.
Automate operations tasks in order to reduce labor required to support systems.
Coordinate and cooperate with counterparts in overseas regions.
Monitoring of the Service Desk system and responding to issues that have been escalated to the Level III support with Change Control Processes and adherence to standards and documentation
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field.
Oracle Certified Database Professional (OCP). Also having Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) is a strong plus.
More than 10 years total experience and 5 years’ experience as an Oracle DBA on Oracle versions 10g or 11g in a large enterprise environment, preferably in a senior/lead role. Experience should include database design (modeling and normalization), capacity planning, performance tuning, storage management, backup and recovery, managing schemas, report generation, database clustering technologies, and extract transform and load.
Must have experience with management/monitoring tools, such as Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control and Oracle server agents.
Strong experience with database design and implementation.
Provide expert-level database analysis, design, implementation and data modeling.
Similar experience with SQL Server would be highly valued.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills conducive to team development.
Excellent Communication Skills - High degree of verbal and written proficiency
