Comprehensive Health Management
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible to assist with prescription services for families in an on-site residential facility. They coordinate with private sector pharmacies to ensure evacuees have the medication they need. Responsible to assist the nurse RN or PA in obtaining needed prescriptions for evacuees while away from home. Reports to the Nurse RN.
All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which CHSi is recognized.
This position is for the day shift, 6AM - 6:30PM
Comprehensive Health Services Inc. (CHSi) is assisting in the humanitarian crisis caused by Hurricane Harvey by supporting a disaster relief shelter in Port Arthur, TX. This shelter will house a large number of evacuees who have been displaced by Hurricane Harvey and subsequent flooding.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enter and maintain prescription data using data systems
Field patient questions and ensure they are answered by the appropriate medical professional
Coordinate with the medical department
Oversee locked cabinet with evacuee medications
Contact doctor’s offices or hospitals to clarify prescription information
Disburse completed and confirmed prescriptions to patients
Answer patient questions and address customer service issues when they arise
Assist by communicating with local pharmacies to place medication orders when instructed
Other duties as assigned
Associate degree in Pharmaceutical Technology
2 years of customer service experience required
Exemplary verbal communication and customer service skills
Must possess valid state certification
Comfortable working in fast-paced environment
Immediate, last-minute travel within the U.S. may be required if located outside of shelter location
Clean criminal background check
This is a day shift position with working hours from 6:00am to 6:30pm
Flexibility is required due to potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities
Bi-lingual skills are preferred (English/Spanish)
Bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical technology
May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs
Visual acuity required to complete paperwork and computer work
Able to communicate verbally and listen for constant surveillance of staff activities
Able to withstand changing environmental conditions with weather (rain, lightning, and winds)
