Position Summary:
The Physical Data Modeler is responsible for the design and instantiation of the physical data model, based on the logical data model. This includes creating the base tables, associative tables, and views, and choosing and creating all indexes. The Physical Data Modeler uses input from the Business Information Modeler, the Capacity Planner, the Database Administrator, and the ETL Consultants. This individual must have the skills to understand the logical data model as well as the business requirements. Will work in a team of 3 – 4 data modelers Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the design and instantiation of the physical data model based on the logical data model. · Creates base tables. · Creates associative tables · Creates views · Creates the semantic layer · Chooses and creates all indexes
Job Requirements :
Qualifications/Skill and Knowledge:
· Have a minimum of 5 years development experience on Teradata
· Experience with creating logical and physical data model with a data modeling tool like ERWin, PowerDesigner, etc.
· Require at least 3 years of ERWin experience with the most recent experience on version 7.0 or higher.
· Experience with modifying physical data model for efficient data access paths
· Experience with generating and executing DDL to create databases, tables, views, and the semantic layer
· Experience with identifying and creating primary indexes, partitioned primary indexes, secondary indexes, and join indexes
· Experience with identifying statistics columns, and creating and executing collect statistics statements.
· Experience with identifying, defining, and creating necessary associative tables, data constraints, and compression mechanisms
· Experience with establishing standards, guidelines, and procedures for design and maintenance
· Must have good communication skills and work well in a team environment. Must have experience interacting with end users, other developers, and/or other teams as part of the development process.
· Prefer healthcare or insurance industry related experience
US citizenship or Green Card holder only, not available to H1B holders – required to pass security background/credit check
Must be local to or willing to work locally in the Baltimore, MD area.
