Purpose of Position:

The primary role of this position is to provide direction and hands on involvement regarding equipment process characterization, validations, quality control, continuous improvement and problem solving knowledge in support of tactical and strategic objectives. The Process Quality Engineer II is responsible for controlling processes, managing projects, monitoring and analyzing internal/external data in theorganization to improve the quality of the company's products.



_Essential Functions:_

Process Engineering

Ensures appropriate process and equipment validations (FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ) and quality plans are developed and implemented for new/existing products, processes and for ongoing manufacturing needs.

Responsible for diagnosing issues found during the manufacturing process and driving corrective action back to the source through controlled problem solving discipline.

Perform process characterization and establish process controls for all critical process parameters. Drive continuous improvement to ensure high throughput, low cost and improved lead-time.

Supports multi-functional teams to resolve problems, improve processes or procedures using 6-sigma methodologies to create solutions for safety, quality, productivity and cost improvements.

Recommends sampling plans and analyzes data via hypothesis testing, normal distribution and process capability analysis tests.

Performs process capability assessment for new/existing equipment and as part of process change management.

Support Operations by working with vendors to determine product specifications for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products per specifications and quality standards.

Develops, evaluates, and implements manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.

Defines processing or handling equipment requirements and specifications, and reviews processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of products to deliver high quality products.

Data and Project Management

Monitors external complaint data to identify trends and correlations with product designs and manufacturing processes. Develops and modifies test plans based on data analysis.

Works with functional teams to ensure comprehensive complaint data is available that reflects customer experiences and provides continuous improvement feedback

Develops trends and paretos for field performance issues, provides recommendations and prioritization of product and process quality improvement projects

Facilitates stop shipment orders (product hold) and engages proper cross-functional resources for investigation and corrections with the intent to quickly resolves the issues

Supports global return process of defective product to support RCA

Other Non-Essential Functions:

Education, Background and Skill Requirements

* Bachelors (or higher) degree in a technical discipline preferred (Physical Sciences or Engineering). * Medical Device experience preferred. * Formal training in quality planning, tools and analysis. * In depth knowledge of quality principles and technical tools (problem analysis, statistical tools, design of experiments, design for six sigma, control charts and other quality methodologies) with the ability to train and provide consultation. * 5 years’ experience in a development, manufacturing or quality environment including experience in leading cross-functional teams * Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Kaizen tools preferred. * Working knowledge of various manufacturing processes. Powder and bottle filling line processes preferred. * Good computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, statistical tools). * Must be able to set and attain goals and initiate action to resolve problems and improve products and processes. * Must be able to provide concise executive summaries of quality issues, change requests, and results delivered.
