We are searching for a talented CATEGORY MANAGER to support the acquisition needs of IT and professional services. The Category Management position is based out of our corporate offices located in Cleveland, Ohio.



The Category Manager is responsible for the coordination and development of category plans, strategies, vision, strategic sourcing initiatives and tactics across a defined number of commodities. Overall spend responsibility will vary between $200M and $300M and savings targets will be set between 5 – 10% year over year.


The Category Manager will provide leadership, guidance and training to commodity managers and sourcing analyst to ensure consistent implementation of established strategic sourcing methodologies. Interact with key business stakeholders to clearly understand the vision of the business and drive category specific strategies to support those business objectives. Will also be responsible to manage and coordinate the supplier relationship and performance evaluation process for the responsible categories.

1. Develops short-term and long-term strategies that align with the Company goals for reducing costs and meeting financial expectation, while managing vendor relationships. (30%)

2. Assesses near-term and long term plans to establish that supplier priorities are balanced with business needs; consults with Sr. Management, and other subject matter experts to develop alternative solutions; advises on options, risks, total cost of ownership, and business impacts. (10%)

3. Provides oversight of work quality and constructive feedback to direct and indirect reports, where applicable. Cultivates team morale, motivation, and loyalty through continuous training and mentorship, setting obtainable performance goals, proving clear communication and constructive feedback (20%)

4. Direct and execute strategic sourcing strategies, best practices, and initiatives that support aggressive improvements in supplier quality, total cost effectiveness, enhanced service levels, improved coordination, delivery, pricing, lead-times, payment, risk compliance and other areas as identified (10%)

5. Executes category sourcing strategies including development and execution of RFI's and RFP's, documents bid events through correspondence to suppliers; develops selection criteria and drives the selection of suppliers in collaboration with a cross-functional teams; conducts supplier negotiations and ongoing supplier management. (10%)

6. Actively seeks ways to streamline business processes; researches and provides information on industry category trends and best practices. Provide procurement input to maximize procurement leverage, optimize project design and minimize project durations and cost (5%)

7. Develop negotiation strategies, gain alignment from stakeholders, lead cross-functional, category-based negotiation teams, and implementing appropriate supplier risk analysis. (10%)

8. Aggressively manages category performance by adhering to internal Savings goals and reviewing financial models for commodity type items. Ensure spend portfolio for reoccurring managed spend is balanced through coordinated sourcing waves and leveraged with Capital project sourcing activities. Drive consolidation of spend and seek out synergies across Business Units where applicable, by forming and leading cross-functional strategic sourcing teams to develop and implement category/commodity strategies and to drive cost from individual spend sub-categories (5%)

This position requires a(n) Undergraduate (Bachelor) Degree in Business Administration

Additional degree(s) that are preferred for this position include:
Advanced (Master) Degree in Business Administration
