The Production Planning Leader is responsible for all production planning, as well as multiple product lines and all related non-exempt hourly personnel. Additionally, this role entails responsibility surrounding use of raw materials, equipment, and processes to meet customer requirements. The Production Planning Leader serves as a Servant Leader to their respective areas, and is responsible for ensuring that all organizational policies and procedures are being communicated and followed. The Production Planning Leader will coach, develop and mentor teams of operators and Team Leads that will create, implement and maintain a robust planning and scheduling system in addition to manufacturing high quality products and embody the values of Safety, Excellence and Respect.
Maintains the master production schedule for the facility, reviewing daily to adjust for changes in customer requirements, delay in receiving raw materials, availability of production resources, and establish a production plan which supports operational and customer requirements.
Develops and fosters an environment where safety, excellence and respect are key components of the department’s daily goals.
Proactively communicates information to team members and supports them through collective difficulties.
Responsible for identifying opportunities for machine/equipment enhancement, replacement and automation.
Utilizes Capital Expenditure Process and cross functional teams to justify, implement and manage projects.
Energetically supports daily performance metric collection, labor utilization, scrap investigation, production schedule, attendance, and overtime for their respective areas.
Publically and privately provides open, honest feedback and acknowledges a job well done by team members or the team as a whole.
Proactively supports team performance and drives accountability in their respective areas.
Responsible for financial performance of the respective product lines and special process areas.
Drives and encourages all team members to develop, implement and be actively engaged in various continuous improvement projects from beginning to completion.
Actively trains, coaches and mentors others in all aspects including succession, development, evaluation, and adherence to work rules and company policies.
Develops and fosters a problem solving culture by coaching and encouraging team members to challenge normal processes, involving them in decisions which impact their roles and pulling EMLS (Lean) tools (and other support staff) as necessary as a means to accomplish goals.
Actively supports and shares resources as needed with other Product Line Leaders and Team Leaders to achieve overall business objectives.
Gather, utilize and communicate data to be used for operational business decisions.
Serves on the EMLS Core Team to assist with the implementation and completion of various cost-saving measures.
Performs any other assigned duty as directed by Plant Manager.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Finance or Business preferred.
High School graduate or equivalency is required.
1-2 years of front-line supervision required.
At least two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing environment required.
Demonstrates great inter personal and communication skills.
Understands and demonstrates the principles of servant leadership in team based manufacturing environment.
