Job Description:Mechanical Inspectors are required to perform mechanical inspection duties in various inspection areas throughout the facility.Every inspector will be required to obtain certification in Mechanical PretestEvery inspector will be required to obtain certification in NDT (MT. PT, ET)Types of inspections will or may include visual, dimensional, and nondestructive test attributesInspectors will also be required to verify and certify work is complete and satisfactory according to specifications and record and report inspection resultsThe successful candidate must be able to work all shifts, weekends and overtime as required Education/ Experience:Semi-Skilled/Skilled position:1 year of mechanical inspection, mechanical test, or mechanical manufacturing experience in requiredAbility to read and interpret blueprints is requiredPrevious shipyard or manufacturing experience is requiredPrevious NDT experience is desiredMust be available to work all shifts2 years of previous inspection/quality assurance experience is desiredKnowledge of shipboard assemblies, installations and foundations is preferredPrevious metal fabrication experience and military shipbuilding experience is preferredHigh school diploma/GED preferred; additional preference given for Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs Skills:Applicants must apply for a DOD Security Clearance as a condition of employment.
