Agriculture Law Education Initiative (ALEI) Research Associate and Legal Specialist
Duties: Be responsible for Carey School of Law’s outreach activities to the farming community. Presenting to agricultural organizations and meetings, producing publications on topics of interest to farmers, and working with the Initiative’s Advisory Panel and partners to respond to farming interests. Report to Associate Dean at School of Law. Produce and update Fact Sheets on topics relating to agriculture law. Make presentations at farm and agriculture organization meetings and create webinars on legal topics of interest to Maryland farmers. Draft, edit, and organize news articles for the ALEI website and other publications. Prepare issue and policy briefs, fact sheets, and other materials for legislators on legal issues of interest to farmers. Assist with preparation of ALEI reports and grant proposals. Establish and maintain contacts with MDA and MDE officials, and representatives of agricultural organizations and commodity groups to increase awareness of the Initiative.
