Profile

Our client, a leading Boston law firm, had engaged CareerEncore ( ****) to help them hire a SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to add to their close knit IT team. Applicants must be team oriented, highly motivated, energetic, and ambitious and have a desire to regularly learn new skills.
This opportunity is ideal for a SQL DBA who has worked for the past 2 to 5 years under the supervision of a manager and who is now ready to take on more responsibility and exposure as the only SQL DBA on the team.
This role requires a lot of support and “hand-holding” of end-users, so customer service skills are essential.
Required Skills:
• 2 to 5 years of experience in a SQL Database Administrator role
• Experience with database platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access
• Familiarity with in-house data-intensive applications, including CRM and Financial Systems
• Installation, configuration and administration of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008 database servers in a Windows 2003/2008 server environment
• Experience with SQL Server performance & tuning
• Ability to troubleshoot day-to-day database issues
• Provide input into standards and procedures for monitoring, capacity planning, maintenance, backups and recovery
• Apply patches and upgrades
• Create scripts to automate database maintenance procedures and to generate system reports
• Experience with SQL DTS and SSIS
• Provide on call support 24/7 in rotation with other members of the database administrators for MS SQL databases
• Microsoft SQL server certifications and general Microsoft certifications (MCSE, MCSA, etc) are a plus
• Familiarity with SharePoint 2007/2010 a plus
• Familiarity with Office 2007/2010 Development a plus

• Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards, and products
• Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language

• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Education/Experience:
• College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or computer engineering and/or 5 years equivalent work experience
• Certifications in Microsoft Server Database technologies preferred
