-- an SEC registered investment adviser and a leading invesment firm focused on alternative credit-based strategies, including private equity, private debt, capital markets, and commercial real estate -- is currently seeking a SQL Server DBA
to join their Technology group.
The SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) primary role is to administer and maintain the Microsoft SQL Server database infrastructure with Ares’s technical environment. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas in and around the database infrastructure.
Specific emphasis is being placed on candidates with background in supporting mid to large size deployments of SQL Server as a Production DBA.
A secondary role includes the support of Ares’ Microsoft systems with an emphasis in Sharepoint.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To work with IT management to propose, agree and deliver IT services to defined Service Level Agreements.
Provide level 1-3 technical support for SQL Server database related issues.
Provide level 1 technical support for Sharepoint related issues.
Perform proactive review of systems performance metrics and alerts to ensure event correlation and trend analysis are performed on a regular basis.
Monitor all database maintenance jobs and to resolve technical issues found to ensure successful completion of each job.
Execute software or system releases on a periodic basis.
Participate in a 7x24 on-call rotation.
Skills / Attributes Required:
Using Microsoft System Center 2012 as a monitoring platform.
Clustering of SQL Servers.
SQL Server replication and other backup/recovery technologies.
Performance tuning SQL Server.
Running SQL Server using a SAN and Fiber Channel as a storage platform.
Running SQL Server in both a physical and VMWare configuration.
Write, execute and peer review SQL and T-SQL scripts, packages, and functions.
Write, execute and peer review Powershell scripts.
Experience working in virtual teams.
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong written skills.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Experience in Vendor Management.
Experience managing systems and providing IT services to an organization with geographically dispersed offices and personnel.
Qualifications:
Past experience working for a Mid to Large size firm in support of a Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 environment.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a SQL Server DBA
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience in a related field.
Certification or equivalent work experience in utilizing ITIL or other IT Best Practice Framework such as Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF).
Sharepoint Server 2010 experience a plus.
Past job experience in the financial sector a plus.
