My client, a world leading Dot Com based in Silicon Valley are looking for a talented and conscientious Infrastructure, Unix/Linux Engineer, and are prepared to offer a highly attractive compensation package to the right individual.
In terms of personality, here’s what we’re looking for:
Strong communicators/Relationship Builders – You will need to be able to provide and communicate complex technology solutions across differing audiences including technical, managerial, business executives, and/or vendors
Subject Matter Experts - Lead the resolution process for complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
Strong Organization skills – You will have responsibility for multiple, complex projects within business areas that will require good time management and prioritization skills
In terms of responsibilities, here’s what you will be handling:
Manage and monitor systems to drive troubleshooting and tuning
First and second tier resolution of production issues and alerts
Understand all components of the site infrastructure in order to analyze impact of alarms and other system messages
Work with external teams to diagnose complex problems and drive resolution
Utilize industry standard and custom tools to diagnose and resolve production issues
Resolve errors and alarms quickly and provide timely escalation
Complete tasks required to maintain service levels and availability of all site features and functions
Help lead development efforts, especially in tools and automation projects
Perform Systems Engineering Tasks as needed
At all times ensure efficient and reliable site operations
In terms of experience here’s what you will need:
Excellent analysis, design, and problem-solving skills for Unix OS, load balancer tier, Windows and Virtual servers.
Effective communication skills are a must.
Candidate should have excellent crisis management and incident management skills.
Candidate should be comfortable in working under high pressure situations when the systems and components are in an unstable state.
In terms of technical skills here’s what you will need:
5 years of Unix Systems Engineering Experience
Ability to manage and troubleshoot large scale multi-tier systems and high transaction web operations environments
Passionate about Operations - you like to make things run and fix them when they break
Ability to work on many tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment
Experienced with large and distributed systems like cloud computing, Hadoop and HBase
Knowledge of common system administration tools, Networking Technologies, Unix (Solaris and Linux specifically) Windows and Storage technologies
Advanced working experience with scripting especially in creating tools to automate repetitive tasks
Advanced knowledge of Perl, PHP, Python or Ruby
Be familiar with Agile software development practices
Production experience with large scale systems deployment and configuration tools
Proven problem solving skills with an emphasis on quick problem resolution
Excellent written and documentation skills
