ROLE:
This Senior Manager, Web Technologies role will directly lead multiple teams of software developers and is expected to establish standards and practices to ensure the highest degree of software quality. Manager works to deliver project results and value to TD Ameritrade business units and clients, through their knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle and software engineering techniques.
The role sets the technical direction and delivers brilliant technology solutions for our client websites - and then does it even better. Must be able to make user experience designs a reality by applying best practices in CSS, JavaScript and other technology frameworks. Expected to contribute to overall web platform architecture direction, development of technical designs (including design and code reviews) and guide other software engineers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Oversee the technical design, development and support activities of one or more website platforms
* Maintain partner relationships across specialty technology groups (Project Management,Architecture, Engineering, Security, QA)
* Maintain partner relationships across business groups (Retail Investor, Institutional, Customer Service)
* Set and implement practices and operating standards to continuously improve software quality and reliability
* Assess technology and industry trends to ensure proper consideration is given to benefits and risks of adoption
* Contribute to department and company process and procedural improvements
* Forecast employee and contractor resources to meet project demand, maximizing use of all available staff
* Establish and track metrics related to key performance objectives and service levels
* Identify and escalate potential concerns related to project initiatives and recommend viable corrective actions
* Develop, implement and enforce company and department best practices and operating standards
* Evaluate employee performance quarterly and lead talent development discussions
* Ensure compliance with industry rules and regulations
* Ensure compliance with TD Ameritrade policies and procedures
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Similar discipline
* Prior experience as a software developer utilizing internet/web technologies
* 5-7 years leading teams and projects to deliver complex website technical solutions
* Demonstrated knowledge of advanced internet technologies (RIA, Web 2.0)
* Demonstrated ability to design and write well-abstracted, reusable code components
* Experience managing multiple teams of 6-12 employees and contingent staff preferred
* Experience in the brokerage industry/financial background preferred
* Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical alternatives, and influence decision consensus
* Demonstrated ability to work across both organizational and vendor teams
* Must be able to travel to corporate locations 15% of the time
