Rockwell Collins is an established as the premier military GPS solutions provider. Hiring talented and motivated system engineers is key to our company’s success. The Surface Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) team is looking for a motivated Sr. Systems Engineer, with a history of success and a desire to join an industry-leading Global Positioning System (GPS) and navigation product team. This person will have the opportunity to drive innovative design and development of our next generation Navigation Products, as well as train alongside influential industry experts in the field of Navigation. Relocation to Cedar Rapids is required. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
This System Engineer will be a part of a cross-functional team responsible for designing, developing, and testing current and future generations of hand-held and embedded GPS (Global Positioning System) receivers.
This position offers abundant opportunities to acquire in-depth knowledge of GPS technology and receiver architecture, and to apply that knowledge in a team environment to continuously improve and enhance our GPS receiver performance.
Specific responsibilities of this position span all phases of system product development including: system requirements analysis, definition, and validation; system architecture design; system requirements allocation and traceability; system integration and requirements verification testing; system modeling and simulation; coordination among systems, hardware, ASIC and software design functions; and development systems related documentation.
The position requires the following:
• US Citizenship
• Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance
• Applicant must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in an applicable field of engineering or science.

The following would be considered a plus:
• Experience with GPS systems
• An understanding of current system engineering processes
• Experience with Matlab or other analysis tool
• Experience with modern software languages (e.g. Python, Java, C, C , etc.)
• Experience with engineering development tools like DOORS, Jama, Matlab, Simulink, etc.
• Experience with configuration management tools (Subversion)
• Working knowledge of MS Office Apps (Word\Excel\Power Point)
