Levi, Ray and Shoup, Inc., a company known for valuing its employees, needs your capabilities to fill a Software Developer position within its PensionGold Retirement Solutions (PGRS) group.
We have been the leading provider of pension administration software and retirement services since 1987. The latest web-based version of PensionGold software uses a service-oriented architecture and is developed using proprietary development tools along with Microsoft .Net Framework tools.
The person we’re seeking for our Product Development team will develop and maintain the technical foundation upon which the PensionGold business products are developed. This person will be expected to gain an in-depth understanding of our PensionGold technical framework including low-level source code, all associated development tools, all services, related products, processes, sub-processes and third party products.
If you are selected for this position, you will be required to work both independently and as part of a team to develop and maintain the PensionGold technical platform including all associated development tools. You will be expected to understand and adhere to our product development standards, and also to collaborate with other Software Developers on the Product Development team.
You can be based in any one of our office locations in Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; Hartford, CT; Kansas City, KS; Springfield, IL; Irvine, CA; or St. Louis, MO. This position involves perioidic travel. As a Software Developer, you are eligible for paid overtime.
Performance Objectives: •Within the first 45 days you will develop an understanding of the PensionGold technical platform and development tools. You will verbally demonstrate this understanding to your manager and other PensionGold employees. •Within the first 45 days you will be able to review and complete action items as they relate to product defects, enhancements or new features. •Within the first 60 days you will develop a high level understanding of the PensionGold product. You will verbally demonstrate this understanding to your manager and other PensionGold employees. •Within the first 60 days you will have developed a detailed understanding of capabilities of the PensioonGold Studio tools that are used to develop and maintain PensionGold business solutions. •Within the first 90 days you will be able to develop succinct design documents outlining required product enhancements and/or changes to meet product requirements. •Within the first 90 days you will have gained a thorough understanding of the PensionGold database model and be able to perform queries against the data base using SQL or our Ad Hoc reporting capabilities.
• You must have a minimum of seven years working in a software development environment and experience writing multi-threaded, server-grade, Windows software with: • Knowledge and experience with the various asynchronous programming models offered by .NET • Knowledge and experience with threading primitives • Ability to understand, diagnose, and fix race conditions and deadlocks – and the ability write code that minimizes the occurrence of these bugs • You must have advanced experience with the following technologies: -C#/.NET – minimum of three years is required -TSQL/SQL Server -XML -WCF/Web Services/NT Services -Visual Studio 2008 or higher •Experience with any of the following “client-side”development tools will make you a stronger candidate: -ASP.NET -WPF/MVVM -WinForms •Experience with any of the follow technologies will make you a stronger candidate: -PowerShell -WinDbg for Managed Code debugging/analysis -Microsoft Operations Manager System Center •Previous experience in a product development environment and/or in the pension industry will make you a stronger candidate.

Success Keys: Your success will be judged on your ability to meet the performance objectives and to implement quality solutions for our pension-related software products. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are a must.
Self-motivation, flexibility, persistence, and attention to detail are critical to success in this position. The ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize work in order to maintain productivity as well as good troubleshooting and creative problem-solving skills are essential.
Organization Structure and Interfaces: The PGRS group is one of several groups within LRS. It is managed by the Vice President, with Managers for Implementations, Product Development, and Product Support and Sales reporting to the Vice President. You will be a member of the Product Development team and will report to Product Development Manager. You will interact directly with members of product development team and other PGRS employees.
