Nike Air MI is the sole supplier of Nike air cushioning components using modern, state-of-the-art, customized equipment in a high-volume manufacturing environment. To support our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Extrusion Process Engineer.
In this position, you will play an integral role in growth of our new Beaverton, OR Extrusion Department. You will be a key member of our technical team responsible for specification, purchase, installation, commissioning, and validation of all-new manufacturing equipment for this department. You will work with our experienced team of extrusion experts in our St Charles, MO facility to develop significant expertise in our unique extrusion processes so you become a technical expert in our Beaverton facility. You will assist in training of Production Team members, and coordinate closely with our St Charles team on continual process and equipment improvements.
You will design and execute experiments to understand key variables between material, process, tooling, and equipment. You'll utilize Lean Manufacturing methods to minimize waste and maximize efficiencies.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering or other manufacturing-related degree plus 5 years related experience or
Associate's degree in related field plus 10 years related experience or
12 years related experience
A minimum of 5 years' experience with extrusion equipment and process development
Demonstrated experience of a detailed and methodical approach to problem solving
Ability to work with and effectively teach associates of all levels including managers, engineers, machine operators, quality technicians, line supervisors, and maintenance technicians
Proven project management and documentation skills
Preferred additional qualifications:
Sheet extrusion experience
Knowledge of thermoplastic urethane processing
Experience troubleshooting industrial machinery, with strong knowledge in both electrical and mechanical systems
Experience in Design of Experiments and strong statistical skills
Experience in LEAN Manufacturing or similar principles and practices
