The Senior Project Manager will define the scope and is responsible for managing software development, infrastructure, and product related projects in the Tax and Accounting Knowledge Solutions business. The position requires strong analysis and problem-solving capabilities, and a fundamental understanding of information technologies. This position demands an attention to detail, a passion to drive projects to deliver with results. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentations skills are imperative. Being a team player is a must.
Primary Job Duties:
-Migrating application and database servers from Sun Solaris and Oracle 10 to Oracle Redhat Linux and Oracle 11
-Working with business team and technical leads to create business plans and requirements specifications for complex software applications, modules, or systems. Must be able to understand subject matter experts and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
-Creating, maintaining and enforcing project plans to support development and integration projects, coordinating, prioritizing multiple projects, generating project status reports to upper management. Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Rational Rose a must.
-Organizing and leading the identification of functional tasks, project milestones, and coordinating various people and functions across the wide range of matrixed organizations.
-Setting up and chairing meetings, driving tasks and documenting project status and activities using project management tools and techniques.
-Communicating with personnel and personalities across different disciplines and at different management levels within the company, both within the US and across the world. Work in both a team environment and independently, and juggle multiple projects and priorities.
Qualifications / Requirements:
-5 years of extensive experience in project management of large and complex full IT systems development life cycle.
-Strong working knowledge and practical experience in internet technologies, as well as Java, Unix and Oracle. Hands-on experience working with Content Management Systems, Configuration (Change) Management, version control, software release management and structured data (SGML or XML) and related technologies are a major plus.
-A solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (requirements gathering, analysis and design, development tools, version control, testing and QA, and deployment) and software methodologies. Familiarity with Microsoft Project and/or other project management tools is highly desirable.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational skills. Must be self-motivated, highly focused, and able to work independently.
-Ability to thrive in a changing environment. Ability to work multiple projects with multiple priorities.
-Technical skills include 3 years of hands-on application design and coding experience in all phases of the software product development lifecycle in multiple programming platforms. Experience with AGILE software development methodology and Microsoft TFS.
-PMP certification desired.
