Staff Attorney - Sponsored Programs Attorney
Duties: Conduct and/or assist with all phases of legal advocacy for individuals and classes of persons including research, preparation of documents, interviewing and counseling, negotiations and appearing before administrative tribunals and courts at the trial and appellate level. The incumbent will make presentations to consumers and the public concerning legal rights and remedies. Assist in the supervision of students from other disciplines. Works with faculty researchers, serving as a coordinator for all necessary review and communications between the researcher, the sponsor and the University offices involved in review and approval of the terms and conditions of sponsored agreements. Provides significant support to the Director of Research Administration in overall management and administration of legal responsibilities and issues that relate to grants and contracts within the Office for Sponsored Programs (OSP) and other units within the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development. Assists the Director of Research Administration in all aspects of sponsored contract review and administration including support for OSP personnel engaged in contract proposal submission. Reports to the Director of Research Administration and receives general guidance and supervision, but is expected to work independently and to be a key contributor to the Research and Economic Development management team.
