Our computational challenges are so big, complex and unique we can't just purchase off-the-shelf hardware, we've got to make it ourselves. Your team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google's services. As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.
As a Hardware System Validation Manager, you will be responsible for consumer hardware product excellence by performing system-level verification and design optimization. You have solid experience in hardware system design, verification and high-volume production for consumer products. You will define hardware system quality and verification strategy for SOC, high-speed interfaces, power, RF sub-systems, sensors, etc. You will work cross-functionally with EE Designers, RF Engineers, Software Engineers, Contract Manufacturers and Compliance Engineers to deliver products from conception to mass production. You will grow the system validation team to ensure that consumer products exceed Google standard.

Develop and manage a team that is responsible for hardware system validation and quality optimization
Lead the development of test plans and execute electrical validation to catch and fix design issues at early design stage to improve the overall product quality and meet aggressive schedule
Develop the integrated solutions to resolve the system-level issues, such as SoC/OS stability, power management, existence issues in a dense form factor
Establish factory test capabilities which include test plan, test fix/station, failure analysis, yield tracking, test cycle optimization, etc.
Drive the innovative validation/test solutions for adopting new technologies into Google product and improving test coverage/efficiency
Minimum qualifications:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
Engineering managing experience on consumer hardware products
Experience with consumer product development processes for product design, validation and manufacturing
System verification and optimization experience in one or more of the following areas: high-speed serial interface (MIPI/DP/USB/PCIE), memory interface (DDR/SDR/LPDDR3/LPDDR4), RF validation (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular, GPS), power supply (Switch PS, LDO), EMC/ESD/Safety compliance, display, camera (optical and electrical), audio, input device validation (capacitive touch, keyboard, mice, etc.).
Preferred qualifications:
MS degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
Hands-on experience on factory bring-up, triage, deriving DOEs, and statistical analysis for categorizing and capturing improvement/regression.
Experience collaborating with SOC team on feature definition, bring-up, characterization, stress test, system/silicon regression rack, etc.
Understanding of consumer electronic analog digital circuits spanning SOC, PMU, Sensors, Display/Touch, Audio, Camera, RF subsystems, and electrical signal characterization/lab equipment
Ability to partner with cross-functional teams (system architects, EE, Tech engineering, SIPI, Software, PM/EPM, NPI/DFM, CM/JDM, etc.) to deliver quality consumer products with the best user experience.
