Do you want to help shape the future of virtualized networking in cloud computing?
The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Networking and Security team owns the virtualized networking pipeline that runs right beneath all our customer's instances, adding features like security, billing and monitoring as we touch every single packet on every single host across our fleet. We are starting a new development that is looking to reengineer this pipeline so that we can get our virtualized network performance to be that of bare metal, whilst allowing a large number of important new customer facing features.
If you are a Software Engineer with good experience in C/C under Linux, and a passion for networking programming, low level optimization and systems software, then this is a unique opportunityto joining us on day 0 of a platform which will be fundamental to many new EC2 features in the years to come.
Basic Qualifications
* 2 years professional experience in software development, including design, implementation, debugging, and support (Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design)
* Proficiency in C/C
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
* Equivalent experience to a Bachelor's degree based on 3 years of work experience for every 1 year of education
Preferred Qualifications
* Scripting (Perl Ruby/Python/Shell script)
* Knowledge of TCP/IP
* Kernel development, particularly Linux kernel.
* Experience with netfilter/tc - both configuring and writing kernel modules for
* Proficiency in assembly (x86, ARM, MIPS, or PPC)
* Linux kernel build, packaging and deployment
* Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast paced environment
