Vice President of Physician Contracting
Duties: Directing the activities for employing and contracting with physicians and physician groups to perform services at the Erie County Medical Corporation. Develops, implements and manages the process for recruiting and contracting with new physicians and physician groups and ensuring that services are provided in accordance with contractual terms and applicable laws and regulations. Work is performed under the general direction of the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Medical Officer. Supervision may be exercised over lower-level administrative, professional and clerical staff. Participates as a member of senior leadership in the development of the Hospital's vision, strategy and key initiatives to enhance viability in the medical community; Recruits physician and physician groups; Manages physician employment and contracting activities, including negotiation, preparation and monitoring of employment agreements, service agreements, clinical and educational affiliation agreements and other arrangements involving clinical, administrative or educational services; Oversees contracting process to ensure contracts are offered in compliance with various criteria such as applicable laws and regulations, fair market value for services, verification of licenses, certifications and insurance and verification of no actions or judgment against potential contracted/employed physicians; Serves as a member of the Physician Compensation Committee, conducts market analysis of physician compensation arrangements and participates in the development and implementation of physician compensation; Develops and implements processes and procedures to ensure contracted physicians and physician groups are eligible for and properly privileged, credentialed, not excluded providers and enrolled with appropriate payors; Develops and manages physician contract and lease monitoring processes to ensure compliance with contracts, lease terms and applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations; Participates in the development of medical staff planning and recruitment activities to achieve long-term strategic initiatives; Develops and manages physicians, physician groups, residents, fellows and educators budget; Acts as a liaison in facilitating and approving residency rotations and/or fellowship programs that will affect Graduate Medical Education (GME)/Indirect Medical Education (IME) Funding to the Hospital; Participates in and may organize meetings, conferences, committees, in-services and trainings.
