The Software/Web Application Developer writes software applications that will be used by internal and external customers. Responsible for writing elegant software code that is delivered on time and with quality. Participates and contributes throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from design to production deployment.
Ideal candidate will have Python experience. Will also look at Ruby on Rails or Java script
Responsibilities:
- Writes software application code that meets or exceeds the end users requirements
- Translates business requirements into maintainable, robust and secure software code
- Demonstrates the ability to reasonable estimate development time
- Performs complex software design activities which may require extensive research and analysis
- Performs implementation and maintenance of complex, multiple software modules/sub-systems
- Participates in software design meetings
- Performs complex bug verification, release testing and support for production systems
- Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions to the problems
- Conducts unit testing and integration testing for functionality and limits
- Researches and understands the business and software requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues
- Researches new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- 5 years of web application development experience
- Strong programming skills with a solid understanding of object oriented languages and principles
- Experience developing with Python and JavaScript is highly desirable
- Experience developing REST based APIs
- Experience with enterprise software design patterns and tools
- Strong technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design, and implementation
- Strong analytical and design skills
- Excellent understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation, quality assurance, debugging practices and source control systems
- Ability to understand business issues as they impact the software development project
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work as part of a cohesive development team
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, information systems or equivalent work experience
