The Supervisor of Operations will oversee the operations of the facility with key accountabilities, which may include:
Plan, supervise, operate and participate in the cleaning, installation, maintenance, repair and preventative maintenance of Coastal district’s water distribution lines and appurtenances, and inspection of the installation of water systems.
Supervise all distribution crews in the operation of:
Valve and Hydrant Maintenance
USA Locator (Mark Outs), Leak Detection, Fire Flow Testing, and Warehouse operations.
Provide support and supervision of field operations including assisting the Foreman and subordinates in troubleshooting.
Demonstrate leadership capabilities that will include promoting associate development by implementing training programs, safety training and implementation, preventive/corrective maintenance and distribution system operations.
Implement best operating practices to promote a safe work environment for all.
Provide guidance to the Foreman and utility workers.
Assign work to teams through written and verbal instructions to the Distribution Foreman and staff.
Communicate effectively with regulators and customers and promote an effective and lasting relationship based on mutual respect.
Ensure that compliance reporting is complete, timely and accurate in all respects.
Provide guidance to the Distribution Foreman in effective management of resources.
Review work orders, follow-up notices, time sheets, leak reports, patch cards, vehicle inspection sheets, inventory deliveries, water quality complaints, and water quality of distribution system.
Actively assist with developing and administering capital and O&M budgets.
Available to work after-hours, weekends or holidays if necessary.
Knowledge / Skills
Must have a working knowledge of materials, methods, practices and equipment used in the construction, maintenance and repair of distribution systems.
Superior knowledge of safety practices in the operation of equipment used in distribution systems.
Sound knowledge of procedures, materials, tools, equipment and safety hazards and precautions common to assigned area of responsibility.
Knowledge of business practices and principles.
Must have the ability to develop preliminary O&M budgets, staffing needs, work schedules and assist with developing capital O&M projects.
Must be able to communicate operational and personnel issues to the Operations Manager in a timely manner.
Must have the ability to supervise a diverse workforce.
Must be able to communicate in an articulate manner with the public, regulators, consultants and company officials.
Must be able to write clear and concise reports, memos and letters regarding distribution and personnel issues.
Must have the ability to exercise independent judgment.
Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with upper management, personnel and vendors.
Must be competent in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must have basic computer skills and be familiar with Toughbook.
A working knowledge of SAP, Click Mobile, MapCall, GIS, and PowerPlant is desired.
Demonstrate good project and process management and analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Experience / Education
Five years of hands-on experience in utility operations with at least two years supervisory experience.
DDW Grade 3 Distribution certification required or the ability to obtain it within one year of hire.
High school diploma or equivalent.
