Tasks
Position Summary:
Under limited supervision the Network Tech performs network troubleshooting during normal working hours, on-call duty or shift work to alleviate system outages analyze system sweeps to neutralize system anomalies, fiber system preventive maintenance and restoration, and perform basic OTN and headend maintenance.
Job Duties
1. Perform applicable CT-1 through CT-4 duties as required.
2. Perform routine troubleshoot and repair of the distribution/transportation network back to the headend.
3. Perform routine forward and return path preventive maintenance.
4. Perform FCC Proof-of-Performance and other associated network documentation.
5. Perform tasks related to fiber technologies to include fusion splicing, fiber connectorization, calculating link budgets, fiber restoration.
6. Install and maintain fiber management equipment to include termination shelves.
7. During the course of normal day-to-day activities
a. Properly operate and maintain installation/service/distribution tools and equipment.
b. Report need for vehicle repair or service when required and/or prescribed.
c. Report any accidents, losses and injuries or property damage to supervisor and customer when appropriate. In supervisor absence initiate appropriate procedures.
d. Apply knowledge and skills of training on the job in order to prepare for transition to CommTech 6.
e. Perform other duties as requested by supervisor in order to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Lifts and carries up to 70lbs.
Climbs poles and ladders.
Ability to work overtime when needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance required.
Requirements
Preferred five years of CATV or wiring experience.
Training/Licenses/Certifications:
Certified CommTech 4
Valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record
High school diploma or equivalent
