KSR is currently seeking a Foodborne Diseases Epidemiologist , to work for our client, Arizona Department of Health Services, in Phoenix, AZ. This is a contract opportunity and is a great way to join a secure institution. SUMMARY This position will improve the State's ability to detect, report, and investigate infectious disease concerns, including foodborne diseases. RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct investigations of reported infectious disease cases Conduct surveillance for infectious diseases, bioterrorism or other public health emergencies based on professional education and experience. Regularly monitors and performs analyses on infectious diseases and summarizes findings through written reports. Provides consultation or assistance to local health agencies investigations of outbreaks or reportable communicable diseases. Conducts epidemiological studies and investigations to identify and characterize infectious diseases. Provides recommendations on control and prevention measures for infectious diseases. Provides education to the public, health departments, and providers on infectious disease. QUALIFICATIONS Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology or related field. Skills in working with local, tribal, state, federal, and international health agencies. Skills in analyzing and utilizing judgment to evaluate a wide variety of technical, epidemiological data and using code-driven statistical analysis programs, preferably SAS. Knowledge of infectious disease epidemiology and laboratory testing techniques. Experience in conducting case interviews and performing epidemiologic studies. Experience providing education to the public and providers about infectious diseases. Skills in designing and conducting scientific studies and investigations to identify and isolate infectious diseases. Understanding of common infectious diseases, including modes of transmission and control. Knowledge of conducting routine statistical tests for infectious disease surveillance and outbreak investigations.
