KSR is currently seeking a Border Health Epidemiologist , to work for our client, Arizona Department of Health Services, in Phoenix, AZ. This is a contract opportunity and is a great way to join a secure institution. SUMMARY This position is required to maintain relationships between public health partners in Mexico and serve as a as a liaison for infectious diseases with the Office of Border Health. RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and maintain communication and information sharing policies for binational communication for infectious disease. Develop and implement strategies and plans for border health to reduce risk, morbidity and mortality in border populations; assist in epidemiologic investigations of cases and clusters of disease, bioterrorism events, and other public health emergencies. Enhance surveillance capacity at the state, local, and tribal level by increasing access to interoperable systems and sharing of surveillance data. Analyze epidemiologic data; write reports, letters, and memoranda to communicate epidemiologic information; collaborate with local, state, federal, and tribal agencies to develop cooperation with border communities related to epidemiology and disease control. Collaborate with community leaders; prepare grant applications, contracts, and agreements. Provide advice and consultation to Department officials on issues requiring in-depth knowledge and experience in border health. QUALIFICATIONS Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology or related field. Knowledge of cultural, political, and economic characteristics of Mexico, specifically Sonora. Knowledge of written and oral English and Spanish. Knowledge of infectious disease epidemiology and laboratory testing techniques. Experience in conducting case interviews and performing epidemiologic studies. Experience providing education to the public and providers about infectious diseases. Understanding of epidemiological methods and techniques. Understanding of common infectious diseases, including modes of transmission and control. Knowledge of conducting routine statistical tests for infectious disease surveillance and outbreak investigations.
