Entry Level Retail Jobs

An entry level job in the retail industry are that of a cashier or a customer care executive and can be found in hypermarkets and supermarkets. Such jobs require little or no prior work experience as the employees are trained on the job itself.

Working at the cash counter, a cashier checks and passes the price tag of the merchandise across the scanner which reads the price, bar code, and item description. A cashier handles payments and their receipts. A cashier should be extremely vigilant as at the end of the shift, the monetary transactions performed by him needs to be equal to the total amount of sales recorded. A cashier needs to be accurate and possess good mathematical skills along with being computer literate. A cashier should also be patient with customers.

A customer care executive makes shopping a pleasant experience for a customer. A customer care executive should be attentive to and capable of handling and solving customer related demands and queries. A customer care executive should be polite, courteous and neatly dressed. A customer care executive should be very patient, helpful and highly convincing. A good command over English and the local language is essential.
