Contractors in Virginia are asking for more money from the government to help avoid layoffs of current construction workers. Virginia governor Bob McDonnell said that he would support raising up to $500 million by 2018 to build more roads but did not say how he would do so. This feeds in to the current argument in congress about the size of government and how to raise revenue.
