In order to comply with federal regulations Georgia Power has announced it is closing 5 coal and oil-fired plants, which is resulting in about 480 lost jobs. Coal industry opponents say it’s a positive move in the direction for cleaner air and water, better fuel efficiency and improved public healthAbout 480 people in Georgia could probably care less about any of that right now. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution did a great job laying out Georgia Power?s future energy plans, plans on how the company can recoup money from the closing and make a profit from the shutdown and how pleased environmental advocates are on the move. Hopefully those 480 people are Atlanta Falcons fans. There’s always the possibility of a win against the Seahawks this weekend. Football seems to make everything better in times like this.
